On May 22, 2024, Jinchan Liu from Batista Group at Yale University visited our group and gave a talk titled “Water Ligands Regulate the Redox Leveling Machenism of the Oxygen-Evolving Complex of Photosystem II”.

Workshop on Excited States and Dynamics in Condensed Phase

The Yang Group attended the International (CECAM-CN) Workshop on Excited States and Dynamics in Condensed Phase at Beijing Computational Science Research Center (CSRC) from May 12-14.

We also visited Tsinghua University before the workshop in the afternoon on May 12. Unfortunately, no group photo was taken. Below is picture depicting “Lotus Pond under the Moonlight (荷塘月色)”.

Group outing and BBQ

On April 27, the Yang Group went to Yangliuqing Manor to relax and enjoy the beautiful spring scenery. Thanks to Cong and Yujie for their organizing, we had our first Group BBQ.

2024 International Symposium on Electrocatalysis and Electrosynthesis, Chinese Chemical Society

Dr. Ke Yang co-chaired the “Photo/electrocatalysis: Theory and Mechanism” session with Prof. Jun Cheng (Xiamen University) and Prof. Wei Zhang (Nankai University) in the 2024 International Symposium on Electrocatalysis and Electrosynthesis, Chinese Chemical Society.

We had 12 keynote talks, 22 invited talks, and 10 contributed talks from March 30 to March 31. We enjoyed great and inspiring talks and stimulating discussion. Below are some pictures:

On Feb. 26, 2024, Dr. Dongyu Liu from HSE University visited our group and gave a talk titled “Non-adiabatic molecular dynamics in condensed matter systems with machine learning”.

“Carbon-Neutrality Weekend”

Our group participated in the “Carbon-Neutrality Weekend” organized by the Institute of Applied Chemistry and Engineering, College of Chemistry at Nankai University.

We prepared a tutorial and showed our “future chemists” how to run quantum chemical calculations of CO2 using WebMO on mobile phones. A young “chemist” suggested we could add electrons to CO2 to remove O atoms through charge repulsion. What a brilliant idea!
